Extended Curriculum

Connah's Quay High School is keen to offer learners a wide variety of activities which enrich and support the curriculum.  These activities are designed to support the learners personal and social development as well as develop skills.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club runs in school canteen every morning from 8.00am to 8.45am,
come along and say good morning.

You will have the chance to finish off homework, play games or just sit relax and have a chat.

For your breakfast you can have:

A meal deal at just 80p
Toast, cereal and drink or two toasts and a drink.
Hot drinks
Hot Chocolate, Tea, Coffee
Cold drinks also available
Bacon Bap
Toast or Crumpet
And much, much more

 If you are free school dinners you can claim an extra 80p a day during breakfast club time
 which will not be taken out of your dinner allowance.

Homework Club

Homework club runs from

3.15pm - 4.15pm
Monday - Library
Wednesday - T15
Thursday in the Maths rooms

This is an opportunity for learners to catch up on their homework and receive some additional help with it should that be necessary.  Learners have access to the Library and ICT facilities.

Help with Maths homework is available for all learners on a Thursday after school, as part of the school's main homework club, but with Maths specialists to help.

Performing Arts

There are many Performing Arts opportunities which are available in Connah's Quay High School. More information is available from the Drama and Music teachers.

Years 7 and 8
Lunch time Tuesday and Thursday

Year 7
Lunch time Wednesday

KS4 but all years welcome but during exam seasons KS4 take priority.
Thursday 3.20pm - 4.20pm


Tuesday and Thursday 3.20pm - 4.20pm, Year 11 learners have triple Science lessons.

Year 10 learners are invited to attend a "catch up session" after school on a Wednesday to consolidate any learning that has taken place during lessons. This session is also offered to Year 11 learners that need to re-sit their year 10 examinations.

Year 11 learners are invited to attend a "catch up session" after school on a Tuesday to consolidate any learning that has taken place during lessons.

We also have revision classes taking place in the lead up to exams. There is no fixed time for this at the minute, it is usually as and when needed.

Design Technology

TEXTILES CLUB (Year 7) Tuesday 3.15pm - 4.15pm

GRAPHICS AND TEXTILES (KS4 and KS5) Wednesday 3.15pm - 4.15pm

ART CLUB is offered on a Thursday lunchtime for all learners to support them with homework.

ENGINEERING CATCH UP (Year 11) Wednesday and/or Thursday

CHILD DEVELOPMENT CATCH UP (Year 11) Wednesday by arrangement


Book Club is on Wednesday lunch time in the library for Years 7, 8 and 9.

The Lie Tree

We all read a book together. This term it is 'The Lie Tree' by Frances Hardinge.

Connah's Quay High School is proud to run the Duke of Edinburghs Award Scheme.  This is a fantastic range of experience for the learners in the school.  It is a voluntary programme and further details can be gained via Mrs Sian Jones in school.
